Approval of paternity leave request

Our form will help ensure that you formally approve a request for a period of paternity leave and that you confirm the employee’s rights to both leave and pay.

Use our form to respond to an employee’s written request to take a period of paternity leave, in order to confirm their time off and explain statutory paternity pay (SPP). Be aware that, in the case of adoption, either adoptive parent may take paternity leave, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria, where the other adoptive parent has elected to take adoption leave. This could, in fact, mean that the paternity leave request comes in from a female employee. Likewise, a female employee who is in a same-sex relationship may make a request for paternity leave.
