Introduction to this document

Environmental gap analysis

A gap analysis looks for the reasons why you aren’t achieving certain environmental goals. It considers where you are, where you want to be and what’s preventing your success. With that information, you will be able to create an action plan that closes the gaps.

When to use the form?

Our Environmental Gap Analysis looks specifically at your environmental policy, targets and objectives and helps you decide where you can strengthen your practices to make sure you are on target. Our document will establish what you may already have in place, what needs to be created to complement your business needs and how to define an action plan for the system you want to implement, be it internal or external.

What’s covered?

The step-by-step form is easy to follow and is divided into the seven key areas that external accreditation sources will investigate. The areas focus on your organisation, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation and improvement. It asks you questions for each section and provides room for further information if applicable.

By completing the gap analysis you will be able to decide whether implementing a formal environmental management system is suitable for your business.  Even if you decide this is not for you right now, completion will identify areas for improvement, such as reduced energy consumption, so you can demonstrate good environmental management and possibly reduce overheads.
