Introduction to this document

Flow chart - food deliveries

When staff take receipt of a food delivery it’s critical that they carry out detailed checks before accepting it into your catering store. Our flow chart summarises how you should do this.

Whats included?

Our Flow Chart - Food Deliveries is an easy to follow step-by-step guide to accepting ambient, chilled and frozen food deliveries in the safest way possible. By using this document you’ll ensure that staff have a clear understanding of your expectations. Plus they can use it as a visual reminder to refresh their minds prior to accepting a delivery.

You can use this document as part of your kitchen team training.

Tell staff to skip the sections which don’t apply to that delivery, e.g. if no frozen food is being received they should move on to the section on chilled foods.

As time is tight during a delivery it’s best to have two members of the kitchen team working together. One should check each items condition and complete paperwork, while the other puts the delivery away in the correct location.
