Management review checklist

When reviewing your company’s health and safety performance you need to be consistent so you don’t miss any critical information. Use our checklist for this purpose.

Why use it?

Using our Management Review Checklist prompts discussions on the key performance indicators and provides documented evidence that each area has been reviewed at senior level, which can be used in an investigation or an audit. The minimum frequency for the review is at least annual, but a monthly review is recommended and in worst case scenarios a weekly review may be required if there is an increase in incidents and your performance is off track.

What’s covered?

To start you off it begins with the date of the review and who is in attendance.  It then moves to the detailed topics such as accident statistics, incident analysis, action plan, training, audit updates, enforcement actions/personal injury claims and ends with any other items.

How to use the checklist?

The form can be adapted to suit your business needs. Work your way down the form ensuring you complete every column as any areas left blank look like you have forgotten to discuss them. If you notice that youre putting “N/A” on the form regularly you could remove this item from the checklist and populate it with something more relevant.

Record keeping

PDF copies should be distributed, and records should kept for a minimum of three years. There may be confidential information discussed at the review, so ensure that they are kept out of general circulation but are readily available on request by an auditor.
