Introduction to this document

Violence at work policy

If your staff are at risk of violent behaviour or threats whilst at work, you should have a policy setting out how you will manage the issue. What’s covered in our template policy?

Protecting your staff

The aims of our Violence at Work Policy are to: (1) prevent incidents where possible; (2) equip staff to deal with them if they arise; and (3) manage the aftermath.

Our policy includes an introductory statement, a definition of workplace violence and an outline of your legal responsibilities. Plus, there are sections which allocate management and employee responsibilities which set out your company procedures and explain how incidents will be dealt with. The design of the workplace is also briefly addressed.

You should adapt the policy having regard to the outcome of your risk assessments.
