Introduction to this document
Maintenance authorisation list
You want your in-house maintenance staff to use their initiative but without putting themselves at risk. So use our maintenance authorisation list to make it clear what they’re allowed to do.
How to use the form
Our Maintenance Authorisation List is designed to make it a relatively simple task for you to designate the levels of authorisation needed for different types of work. It’s divided into three sections:
- routine work
- tasks requiring authorisation; and
- specialist tasks.
Each one has a few examples of the type of work activities to include. There are also references to the role of risk assessments, method statements and permits-to-work.
Use your completed list to make it clear to staff where the boundaries lie. Use it in the induction of new staff as well as a way of communicating your requirements to existing staff.
