Stress self-assessment checklist

If a member of staff tells you that they’re suffering with mental health problems caused by their work, evaluate the possible causes in an objective manner. Use our checklist to do this.


With our Stress - Self-assessment Checklist you can systematically examine the factors which may influence an employee’s satisfaction with work and identify solutions to their current distress.

It could be used in an interview situation, e.g. by a health and safety advisor or HR. Alternatively, it could be completed by the employee to enable them to clarify the cause of their concerns and ask for the right kind of help.

The checklist is set out in a table with six sections of questions which are based on the HSE’s Management Standards.
