HSMS health check

A health and safety management system (HSMS) can be complex, but a check will help alert you to any instabilities and issues within it. Use our form to review each key performance indicator (KPI) individually and assess whether you are on track to meet your policy requirements.

What’s covered?

Our HSMS Health Check form begins with identifying which KPI you are checking to assess its effectiveness and/or usefulness.

It then goes on to ask specific questions regarding that KPI, and you can alter these to suit your business. In the last column you should score your performance. There is guidance as to what your score means, and if it falls below expectations it prompts you to review the KPI to understand why.

 

When to use the document?

You can choose how frequently you are undertaking these checks, e.g. if your business has a high staff turnover you may want to assess quarterly. If you have a stable workforce you can do these checks six monthly or even annually.

The completed forms can be used to demonstrate to an insurance company or auditor that you are frequently monitoring your system and staying in control of your health and safety systems.
