Safety representatives charter

If you have safety representatives or representatives of employees’ safety in your workplace, their purpose and duties can occasionally be overlooked due to normal day-to-day activities. Use our charter to define your expectations and to remind them of their duties.

Why might you need it?

Our Safety Representatives Charter is a statement of intent from both management and the representatives themselves. It’s an informal way of identifying their purpose and duties and shows all employees what your company has in place in order to consult and communicate with them on matters of health, safety and welfare. It can be used by either unionised safety representatives (SR) or non-unionised representatives of employees’ safety (ROES).

Make it bespoke

You may decide that you should issue one charter per SR or ROES and personalise each one with specific tasks, or you could keep it generic and simply list your SRs and ROES in the space at the end.
