Staff kitchen safety rules

Staff kitchens have a reputation for being badly looked after by those who use them. Our Staff Kitchen Safety Rules will help to set out your expectations and enforce some discipline.

Using our template

Adapt the template to suit your own particular situation including any specific extra issues, then display it prominently on the kitchen wall. It will show that you’re fulfilling your duty of care in dealing with kitchen hazards.

What’s covered

The rules cover a range of issues including:

  • dealing with spillages
  • emptying the bin when full
  • washing up cups and dishes or putting them away in the dishwasher
  • taking care with sharp knives and broken crockery
  • not leaving out of date food in the fridge
  • details of who to report problems to.

With these rules in place it should be a much more harmonious atmosphere for staff and less of a breeding ground for bugs.
