COSHH/DSEAR assessment - used motor and transmission oil
If your staff are involved in handling used engine oils etc., you’ll need to make sure that skin contact is kept to a minimum. For sensible precautions apply our assessment.
Assessment
Employers are required to assess the risk of hazardous and dangerous substances they use or store. In the case of used engine and transmission oils there’s a risk of skin cancer so there’s a clear need to properly address the risk.
The assessment begins by outlining the hazards and the limitations of use. It then includes suggestions of risk control measures you might put in place, and ends with emergency procedures.
Our document is based on current HSE guidance on handling these substances so you can have confidence in the quality of your resulting risk assessment. However, make sure that it’s representative of your own workplace before signing it. Fill in the parts shown in italics to describe your particular workplace.
