Personal risk assessment

When an individual staff member is at an increased risk of harm, you should carry out a personal risk assessment.

Being cautious

When an employee has a chronic health condition or a disability you must ensure that your risk assessments take their needs into account. To assist, we’ve produced a Personal Risk Assessment form. It allows you to determine any additional risk control measures which should be implemented.

When carrying out a personal risk assessment you should ensure that the individual is involved at each stage. This avoids second-guessing the impact of their disability or ill-health condition on their everyday life, ensures that you achieve your aim of improving their health and safety and increases the chance that they’ll co-operate with any changes required to their role or workplace.
