The briefing identifies the hazards and risks including exposure to physically challenging work, inexperience and a lack of risk awareness.

Control measures include adapting tasks so that they are suitable for the individual, completing a risk assessment and training.

Attendees must take note of the following key point:
- “If the young person is still at school or on work experience, the host should be asked to sign a written agreement making the responsibilities of both sides clear. Sometimes this is combined with consent from the parent/guardian and the young person.”
