Premises safety checklist

Having effective security measures on your premises contributes to the safety of staff, particularly those who are key holders. It also helps to deter unauthorised entry. Our checklist will help you to review your current arrangements.

The security safety angle

If your premises are targeted by thieves, vandals, fly-tippers and trespassers it very soon becomes a safety concern for staff. Trespassers may enter dangerous areas containing machinery, or onto roofs or over deep water, operating equipment that they are not trained to use etc.

Protecting your premises is therefore very important, whether to prevent claims or to keep your staff safe. To audit your arrangements, use our Premises Safety Checklist.

What’s covered?

The checklist is divided into two parts. The first looks at Perimeter security” as the best solution is to prevent unwanted access to your property in the first place. Part two considers the security of your main building, any outhouses and hazardous features in the grounds.

It‘s laid out as a table with a set of question which you can mark up with a Yes”,No” or “N/A” i.e. not applicable. The final column on the far right of the form is for further information. If you have comments or action points relating to a question, you should mark this column, and write your notes in the designated box at the end of the form.
