Electricity can be taken for granted, so it’s easy to forget the number of accidents and fires it causes. Why not use our policy to help in managing these risks?

Using the template

We’ve written our Electrical Safety Policy so that it applies to the majority of businesses. Most will only need to make a few minor tweaks at the places we’ve highlighted in italics.

Note. If you have an electrical business or your company is involved in high voltage or other specialist work, you’ll need to make more significant additions.

What’s covered?

The document includes six headings:

• general statement
• the legal position
• management responsibilities
• employee responsibilities
• suitability of equipment; and
• inspection and testing.
