Environmental incident reporting
policy and procedure
If an environmental incident does occur, it needs to be reported to you immediately. And, in certain circumstances, you will need to report the incident to the relevant enforcement agency.
Reporting an environmental incident
You can’t investigate an incident if you don’t know about it. Your staff are used to reporting accidents when someone is injured, but reporting a spill or a leak isn’t likely to get the same recognition. To help you find out what is happening, we’ve created an Environmental Incident Reporting Policy and Procedure. This will highlight to your staff the importance of reporting incidents that could cause harm to the environment. It gives details of actions to be taken directly after the incident and who might need to be informed.
